The Chaplaincy Team
The Hospital Chaplains are employed
members of the hospital staff and work as part of the multi disciplinary
health care team. They have responsibility for providing spiritual
and pastoral support for patients, relatives, staff & visitors
and are available to people regardless of whether they have a religious
faith or none.
Often people who are in hospital
value the opportunity to discuss their concerns, hopes and fears
with someone who can be alongside them. The Chaplains work with
a team of trained Chaplaincy visitors, who are also available to
spend time with people.
The Chapel
Signposts will direct you to the
chapel from all quarters of the hospital. The chapel is available
to anyone who might need some time away from the busy and sometimes
noisy hospital. You might want to do some thinking on your own.
You might wish to pray, to weep or just be silent with yourself
or another person. The Chapel is a good place for all of this.
Whatever your faith or religion
the Chapel is available for prayer reflection and quietness. If
you prefer a private room this also can be accommodated.
Ceremonies, rituals and
worship opportunities
A Christian service is held in the
Chapel on a Sunday at 10.30am. This is also broadcast on channel
5 of the Hospital Radio. Holy Communion, other Sacraments and prayers
can be brought to the bedside.
If you have something important
to celebrate, or would like to give thanks for recovery, or a new
baby, then the Chaplains can help you with these.
Before and just after death we offer
prayers and blessings.
